Paddy’s Not Patty’s, Assholes! :)

Standard

Student: “Are you wearing green because it’s St. Patrick’s Day?”

Me: “Yup.”

Student: “What does the green stand for?”

Me: “Avarice, envy, and gangrene.”

Student: “Huh?”

Me: “The beautiful, rolling green hills of Ireland.”

Student: “Oh.”

My Pagan friend doesn’t like St. Patrick very much, accusing him of slaughtering “…the entire Pagan, Druid, Goddess worshiping matriarchal communities of Ireland.” So I teased her this morning by sending her a text that said “Oh, it’s St. P’rick’s Day, isn’t it?” It seemed somewhat heretical, but I feel like I’m Irish enough to pull it off…

    • Sigh…I’m not sure that’s exactly how that story goes, there. But bravo for pissing her off. πŸ™‚ I do wish St. Brigid’s was more the thing…she was rather revolutionary.

  2. I get crap if I call my hubby Patty, he’s Irish and named Patrick, his Father always called him Paddy, his brother was Micky, and he (his father) is the one in the picture! LOL…
